A local crew that puts its name on every roof.

Sunstead started in 2014 with two electricians, one van and a rented roof lift. Today eleven of us design, install and look after solar, batteries and chargers for homes from Boulder to Fort Collins. We still drive the same streets.

Why we size for your bill, not for the sale.

Most solar quotes in Colorado come from a salesperson who will never see your roof again. The system is sized to the biggest number the lender will approve, the install goes to whichever subcontractor is free that week, and the monitoring login arrives by email with nobody behind it.

We built Sunstead to be the opposite of that. The designer who measures your roof sits across the table from you with twelve months of your bills. The electricians who install it are on our payroll. The office that watches production every morning is the same office that answers the phone.

It means we turn down jobs where solar does not pay, and we say so. It also means that when something goes wrong on a roof we finished six years ago, you call the people who finished it.

Four things we promise on every job.

Sized to your real usage

Twelve months of bills, a drone survey and hour-by-hour shade. If a smaller system covers you, that is the one we quote.

We own the whole job

Design, permits, roofing, electrical, install and monitoring, all by Sunstead employees. One contract, one phone number.

A person answers the phone

Weekdays 8 to 6 and Saturday mornings, someone who knows your roof picks up. No ticket numbers, no call center.

We stay after the install

Ten years of yearly inspections and cleaning, a 25-year workmanship warranty and a production guarantee, all in writing.

The people you will meet.

Three of the eleven. The rest you will meet on install day, usually around 7 am, with coffee.

Elena MarshFounder, master electrician

Started Sunstead after twelve years wiring commercial solar. Still signs off on every electrical plan and still climbs the roof when a crew is short.

Tomas ReyesDesign lead

Flies the drone, runs the shade study and sits at your kitchen table with the layout. Has turned down more systems than most salespeople have sold.

Dana OkaforOffice and monitoring

Reads every system's production before her first coffee. If you get a call about a panel, it is from her, and usually before you noticed.

From the first call to the first sunny day.

  • Week 1

    Survey and design

A 90-minute visit: drone measurement, electrical panel check, twelve months of bills. The layout and a fixed price arrive within the week.

  • Weeks 2 to 6

    Permits and utility approval

We file the city permit, the utility interconnection and the HOA letter. You sign twice. We chase everything else.

  • Install day

    One day on the roof

The crew arrives at 7 am. Panels, wiring, inverter and battery are in and the site is cleaned up by late afternoon.

  • Weeks 7 to 10

    Inspection and switch-on

The city inspects, the utility swaps the meter, and we turn the system on with you and walk through the app.

  • Every year

    Inspection, cleaning and report

Included for ten years, with a written production report for the house file.
