Four attorneys. One standard.

Small on purpose. Every client works directly with a partner, and every partner knows every client. These are the people on the other end of the phone.

Daniel Calder

Managing Partner, Corporate & Transactions

Daniel founded the firm in 2009 after nine years in the corporate group of a national firm, with the idea that a company should know what its lawyers will cost before the work begins. He has closed more than two hundred acquisitions and financings for privately held companies, most of them between five and eighty million dollars.

Clients call him for the deal and keep him for the governance that follows: the shareholder agreement nobody read, the board that needs a process, the executive who wants equity. He is at his best in a room where the other side has more lawyers.

Focus
Acquisitions and sales of a business, financings, shareholder and operating agreements, board governance

Laura Bennett

Partner, Commercial Litigation

Laura has tried cases in Colorado state and federal courts for twenty years and arbitrated disputes across the Mountain West. She joined the firm in 2012 to build the litigation practice around a simple rule: the client hears the honest assessment first, including the cost of being right.

Most of her matters resolve before trial because her clients know where they stand and the other side knows she will try the case if they do not. She handles partnership break-ups, trade secret disputes and the contract fights that decide whether a company keeps its biggest customer.

Focus
Contract and partnership disputes, trade secret and non-compete cases, shareholder litigation, arbitration

Marcus Reed

Partner, Estate & Succession Planning, Intellectual Property & Brand

Marcus works with family-owned companies on the transition nobody wants to schedule: who owns what, who decides, and what happens when they stop. He joined the firm in 2015 and became a name partner in 2021, after a decade of plans that held when they were tested.

He also leads the firm's trademark and licensing work, which often begins with the same families. A brand that took thirty years to build deserves the same care as the building it lives in.

Focus
Buy-sell agreements, trusts and estates for business owners, family governance, trademarks, licensing and trade secrets
Admitted
Colorado, 2011. United States Patent and Trademark Office, trademark matters

Priya Natarajan, beside the library shelves

Priya Natarajan

Senior Associate, Employment & Workplace, Real Estate & Land Use

Priya advises employers on hiring, handbooks, executive agreements and separations, and handles leases and acquisitions for companies that own the buildings they work in. She joined the firm in 2018 and leads two practices that share one trait: the questions arrive on a Tuesday afternoon and need an answer by Wednesday.

Before law school she managed operations for a regional logistics company, which shows in how she drafts. Her documents are written for the manager who has to use them, not for the lawyer who will read them in a dispute.

Focus
Employment agreements and policies, separations, wage and leave compliance, commercial leases, purchases and land use approvals

How the firm is built.

A price before the work

Every engagement starts with a written scope and a fixed fee or a capped estimate. We have kept that rule since 2009, through matters large and small.

One partner, start to finish

The partner you meet in the first conversation is the partner on the closing call. Associates support the work; they do not replace the relationship.

Written answers within a business day

Every open matter gets a written update with a next step, every business day it needs one. Nobody should wonder what their lawyer is doing.

Talk to a partner this week.

Thirty minutes, no charge. Tell us about the matter and we will tell you who should handle it.
